ABOUT US

Founded in 2020 by Danny Bohm, a former Microsoft veteran who has lived on the Eastside since 2005 and in Issaquah since 2012, Formula Brewing was created to bring a unique beer-centered gathering place to Issaquah—pairing “formal beer in a casual atmosphere” with a welcoming taproom and beer garden. Head Brewer Jesse Brown crafts a wide range of styles and judges at marquee competitions like the World Beer Cup and GABF—helping the brewery earn dozens of medals proudly displayed in the taproom.

At Formula Brewing, we are devoted to delivering exceptional “in glass” and “out of glass” experiences.

BREWING PHILOSOPHY

“In glass” refers to our frequently changing lineup of true-to-style beers that will satisfy everyone from the connoisseur to the casual beer lover. An American-made, 15-barrel, high-pressure steam brewhouse is the heart of our operation. This system was designed from the ground up to allow for a wide variety of beer styles without compromising beer quality.

Altogether, the custom-built setup allows our Head Brewer, Jesse Brown, to create a wide variety of styles, with his main focus on outstanding lagers, while still producing anything from phenomenal extra-hoppy IPAs to fruity sours. Our brewhouse features a dedicated mash tun, allowing us to adhere to time-honored decoction brewing methods that yield an elite class of craft lagers.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Formula Brewing has won more than two dozen state, national, and global medals, as judged by other brewers and industry insiders in double-blind contests. The 2024 World Beer Cup yielded an unprecedented four medals, including one gold. In the 2023 Washington State competition, we were thrilled to take home three gold medals and one silver.

“Out of glass” refers to our taproom and beer garden setting that delivers a friendly and relaxing experience for your whole family. Well-behaved pets are welcome, too. We are proud to be Issaquah’s first and only brewery, taproom, and beer garden, where there is something for everyone.
